Choose your own e-bike journey, whether it’s a short one-hour exploration, a leisurely 2-4 hour ride, or an exhilarating full-day expedition. The road is yours to conquer, we provide a comprehensive safety briefing before each ride, ensuring you’re fully equipped for the thrill ahead.
Our e-bike routes will take you mainly along scenic gravel roads, some rides are on sealed roads but the best riding is on the gravel. While we don’t offer traditional bike trails, riding on these gravel roads offers an equally immersive experience, accompanied by the occasional friendly wave from local farmers sharing the road. Your safety is paramount to us, so we encourage you to stay on the left-hand side, remaining aware of other vehicles. Don’t worry though, encountering vehicles is a rare occurrence on these remote roads.
For the more remote rides with limited cell phone coverage, we’ve got you covered. There are farms scattered along the routes which can be contacted in case of an emergency. We’re working closely with the Waitomo District Council and Otorohanga District Council to have signs installed to alert motorists of your presence on the roads, promoting a harmonious coexistence.
Rest assured, your safety is our number one priority. Our experienced team are equipped to swiftly handle any unforeseen circumstances. In case of emergency, we maintain direct communication with emergency services and the Police, ready to assist whenever needed.

Waitomo Ebikes does an outstanding job providing a fully equipped ebike. There is no detail left out. We are blown away by the quality of ebike, gear and biking routes.
Everything was ready when we arrived. We were able to quickly start our journey. Our route provided a variety of scenery (bush walk, mountains, prairies, horses, sheep, cattle).

We biked down a quiet rural road, bordered by colourful flowers, .to Otorohonga.
After a delicious lunch at the fat Kiwi, we returned to Waitomo, and biked to Ruakuri Scenic reserve, where we went for a delightful wander through native bush – up & down many steps, over bridges, into tunnels,and look out points, and past limestone outcrops, cave entrances, and waterfalls.
We finished back at Waitomo E Bikes, to a refreshing drink of Ginger, Kawakawa & Manuka Honey, made in Waitomo – a perfect end to a lovely Adventure

I’m 5’ 1” and not very strong but I was still able to ride and manage the e-bike.
We did the E-bike odyssey: The Forgotten Way and we loved it. We were not able to get to the meeting point on time and Richard just drove up the road until he found us. We had stopped many times for pictures and even a 30 min break for lunch on a rock in the fields so we were late (the cows were concerned about us and moved away…😂) If you plan on doing the same, please give yourselves about 5hr. We had about 2 bars of battery left at the end of our ride. TIP: turn off pedal assist when you are riding downhill to save on battery life.
Richard met us with drinks and some snacks. I hope you do this ride. We will for sure if we ever go back.

A great choice for you to visit kiwi house. It’s an easy ride with outstanding view all the way.
Richard is super helpful and kind. He prepared not only water bottle, clear route map, but even sunscreen! I was so glad I found out this service in waitomo. He also recommended me nice cafe in Otorohanga.
Highly recommends to those who wanna explore more than glow worms cave in waitomo.
I dropped an email earlier in the day on my way across from hot water beach, and Richard replied promptly and politely saying there would be a bike waiting for me.
On my arrival Amber greeted me and helped me decide where to go based on what I was looking for and was incredibly helpful and friendly. Not knowing the area I was uncertain where to go but Amber showed me the way and gave me a map and once I got going it was all good.
A great route and so glad I went.
Very friendly and welcoming people. I’d recommend to everyone. The e bikes can make the hills easy so no need to worry about the physical side. Can also be a good workout too if you want it to be.
