what makes our ebike different?
Frame - Carbon Fibre
Carbon fibre is two times stronger than the alloy used in premium bike frames, and at a fraction of the weight.
eBikes don’t have to be heavy and hard to handle.
Waitomo Ebike’s carbon fibre frames make them a joy to ride and manage, even for petite riders or if the battery is flat. Your bike’s frame has strength, reduced weight and gives a responsive ride.
Motor - 300 Watt Bafang MM G33
The bike’s manufacturer has installed a clever BAFANG MM G33, 300 Watt motor for superior torque and speed with reduced weight.
Bafang is the same electric bike motor manufacturer that the world’s most famous ride sharing company has chosen for its US fleet of over 100,000 electric bikes. The reliable MM G33 produces a maximum torque of 95 N m so you don’t have to worry about going up hills anymore.
Battery - Samsung SDI
Our ebikes use SAMSUNG SDI battery technology for quick recharge and a range of up to 80km* (*The maximum range of up to 80km depends on a variety of factors including hills, terrain, statue of rider, selection of motor assist levels, use of gears, and headwind). The SDI cells are secured in a rigid cage. This standard feature on our eBikes provides safety and security by keeping the cells isolated so they will not short circuit. Increased reliability, short recharge times and best-in-class range means you can spend more time out there.
Controller
Our eBikes utilise intuitive Intelligent Controllers and premium, large format, LCD screens to maximise your comfort.
The Intelligent Controller provides five pedal assist levels and is conveniently mounted on the handlebars. It also features a unique ‘Walk Assist’ function so no pushing is required. The auto light function makes night riding safer. The Intelligent Controller and large format LCD screen makes controlling your bike simple.
High Spec Components
Only premium components are used on Waitomo Ebikes, giving you performance and reliability.
Tektro Hydraulic brakes, Suntour fork, along with Shimano Deore gears and derailleurs are used. These rugged components have a proven track record and are readily available from quality cycle mechanics, allowing you to relax and enjoy the ride.
With your comfort and convenience in mind, our eBikes feature a low step-through configuration, eliminating the need to swing your leg over the frame. The wider seat is equipped with an upgraded memory foam cushion, ensuring an extra level of comfort during your ride. Additionally, each bike is equipped with a bike stand and a rear carrier rack with pannier for carrying your belongings. To shield you from any elements, a rear fender is included, minimising splashes from below, while a front flex fender helps reduce splash back, such as mud or water, as you ride.
The tires on our eBikes strike the perfect balance between versatility and performance. They are designed to be smooth enough for comfortable rides on sealed roads, while also providing sufficient grip with their knobbly tread pattern for adventurous journeys on gravel roads and trails. Whether you’re exploring rugged landscapes or cruising through country streets, our eBike tires will adapt to various terrains.
We’ve tested the battery range of the Hybrid eBike over a variety of terrain and know that we can get up to 80km from the battery. It all comes down to how you ride and use the power levels and gearing system to your advantage to help extend battery life. Optimising both the power levels and gear range to help save battery power is essential when riding our longer rides of over 50km.
